Cassie is starting to get braver when it comes to bugs. I don't know if it is maturity, from camping all weekend, or if she has just decided to move onto another fear. No matter what it is....I appreciate it.
Today we were in my bedroom and I saw a spider on the ceiling. I called Andy to come get it for us. A minute after this, Cassie notices a small beetle on the floor. She doesn't panic...instead she says "I found a bug". Then she grabs a Kleenex and picks the beetle up with it. At this moment, I was extremely proud. She had finally got over her fear of bugs...right? Wrong! She opens the Kleenex, the beetle isn't dead and moves, Cassie throws the Kleenex on the floor, and she moves away as quickly as possible crying out for me to get it. Only Cassie. However I give her credit because after I killed it she wanted to look at it and was looking for its legs and such.
After baths tonight, Cassie noticed a spider on the outside of the patio window. Andy and I look closer and notice that the spider is actually building a web. After asking Cassie if she'd like to look closer at it, Andy picks her up and we show her how the spider is doing it. I picked Kalli up as well and Kalli had her face practically plastered to the window watching. I was very impressed with how interested the girls were and it gives me hope that bugs won't be such a big deal in the future.
