First day of Kindergarten

Today was Cassie's first full day of school. It wasn't the full classes, but only 1/2 of the kindergarteners they will normally have. The other half will go tomorrow while the first half stay home. Still it was a preview of the year to come. :)

Cassie was up at her normal 6/6:30 this morning. (Why is it I have the early bird child?) She was very good though and played on the computer until Kalli got up. While getting dressed and changing diapers we told Cassie that she should eat a good breakfast because she wouldn't get anything to eat until lunch time. She had 2 pieces of toast... not exactly my idea of a good breakfast, but that is all she would eat.

The whole family brought Cassie to school and waited for the teachers to come out to get the kids. We took our pictures, said our good-byes, and though it wasn't easy... we left. Then we went to breakfast.

Andy and I wanted to do something fun with Kalli today, since she didn't have her sister there to play with, so we took her down to Baird's Creek. She actually really liked it down there and I got some awesome pictures. And the bonus was that by the time we got home she was tired and about 1/2 hour later she went down for a nap. I'm not sure what that sound I heard was...but I think it was called quiet.

At 3:30 Cassie was done with school. Because we had dropped her off for school, the teacher thought that we would be picking her up as well. They called me at home and I said that it was no big deal and I loaded Kalli into the van to go get Cassie. When I got to her school Cassie had this funny look on her face. When I asked what it was about she said (and I quote) "I can't believe I missed my bus "

It was actually very nice though because I got to talk to Cassie's teacher for a while. Cassie had a great first day. She was racing another boy that is in a wheelchair on the playground and Cassie told me that she was playing jump rope with the girls. She held and turned one side of the rope for them. I can't explain how happy this made me... jump rope is something that I didn't think that she would do. She is finding ways to still be part of things that she isn't able to do physically.

I think Kindergarten is going to be an excellent year!
